Day 9 - Driving Pile
The crew started their day off by attaching the pile driver to the crane and then transporting it to bent #2 on the east side of the bridge.
The pile was then brought down. Heat numbers and length data was written onto the pile driving form. All certs have been received.
A laborer coats the pile with bituminous tar prior to driving the pile.
Type II rock was being delivered onsite so the contractor could finish installing the temporary crossing for the heavy machinery.
The crew positions the first pile and checks alignments on the batter line as well as ensuring the pile is plum.

After the pile on bent #2 was driven, the contractor switched focus to the temporary stream crossing.
While an excavator worked on leveling the rock, other members of the crew laid out piling locations using the batter line.
The excavator operator works on leveling the rock to ensure the 50 Ton crane can safely cross.
The crane and the pile driver cross the stream in order to drive bent #1.
The laborer lines the pile up with the paint marker before checking his clearances.
