Day 28 - Form work and tying rebar
The safety railings were installed after the forms were placed on the overhang jacks.
This picture shows the contractor tying steel on bent #2 (east side of the bridge).
The carpenter works on cutting the chamfer strips and pre-nailing them so they can be quickly installed.
The steel reinforcement for the deck is 100% epoxy coated.
After the steel was tied for the wing walls and diaphragm the operator cleared dirt away to ensure a clean working area. They are preparing to put on the concrete forms.
This picture shows 75 L.F. of silt fence that was installed on the SW corner of the project.
This picture shows silt fence that was installed on both the NW and NE side of the project.
After the chamfer strips were installed this picture was taken to show the quality of the craftsmanship. A generator/air compressor was placed on the bridge so that a worker can air blast the surface to remove any debris.
The crew works on positioning the oxyacetylene tanks so that they can re-position the tension strands on the precast girders.
The tension strands are heated so that they can be easily moved. This is done so that the wires can be inside the forms and allow for required concrete cover.
The contractor removed the pick point ties since they were only needed to set the girders. Also the tension strands are shown to be bent in such a position that they are within the diaphragm.
