Day 21 - Rip Rap
The clearing and grubbing has been completed and the contractor is working on laying the type II rock blanket on the slopes.
The abutment has rock pushed up against it. Picture is looking at bent 2.
Current view of bent 1 without any rip rap. The steel reinforcement is extruding out of the abutment for next phase of construction.
A majority of bent 2 has been received rock. The type II was placed on top of geo-fabric. The remaining rock will be placed after the bent is back filled.
This picture of the abutment shows the key and seats for the girders. The concrete is smooth and level.
A worker cuts the remaining steel into smaller sections so it can fit inside a dumpster to be hauled away.
