Day 35 - Tying barrier curb steel / forms

The contractor worked on forms first thing in the morning starting with bent #2.

The crane lowers a section of the forms so the workers can easily position it.

This picture was taken on a wing wall of the east bent. It's purpose is to show the clearances of the rebar as well as the chamfer strip.

After the recent rain event the water level in the creek has risen significantly.

The lower part of the barrier curb that's been tied. The upper half will be tied on after the burlap is removed.

A final shot of the barrier curb showing symmetry.

This picture was taken on bent #2 after the forms were installed. It clearly shows acceptable clearance on either side of the reinforcing steel.

Looking down onto the cap of bent #2 and observing the clearance for concrete cover.

A piece of steel tied to a temporary 2x4 until the deck is poured. This is part of the barrier curb.

The contractor works on installing the barrier curb steel on the end of the wing wall where it will taper.

This shows the top of the cap on bent #2. The cap is clean and clear of debris.

An issue that we encountered while tying the steel. The drains were not accounted for in the plans.

With the recent rain event the water pushed a lot of rock for the temporary creek crossing.
