Day 8 - Dirt work for piling

Standing on the east end of the project looking west. This was taken early in the morning prior to any major work taking place.

The excavator operator works on removing the abutment on the west end of the project.

After the old abutment was removed the operator moved the temporary pipe into the stream. Type 2 rock was then hauled in and placed around the pipe to allow a temporary crossing for machinery.

A certified welder arrived onsite to weld the tips onto the piling.

This shows the rock sitting against the temporary pipe.

After the pipe was set the crew worked on leveling out the work area for the top of dirt elevation. Both bents required about 1 foot of fill. The crane in the back of the picture was assembled in the early afternoon.
